Surprised me how deep it cuts, even now in 2025! Chile, I knew this gal, Peaches—lord, she was wild! Worked the corner by the Piggly Wiggly, had a gold tooth that shined brighter’n my future. She’d laugh, sayin’, “Madea, I’m freeer than you church folk!” And I’d cackle, ‘cause she was right!

Oh, and lemme mention our local art spot—Lapeer Cultural Center on Washington Street. It’s like a treasure box of local creativity. I once found myself so moved by a painting, I practically bawled like a baby. Reminded me of that line from "Ida", "Listen, there’s beauty even in silence." And baby, I do listen!
