I must add – this city has a life of its own with little streams and rivers, like the stream running by the old fairground. It may not be grand like the big rivers, but it flows like a secret, hushed conversation between old friends. I had a moment there once, sitting by the water, thinking “Die weiße Schlinge bindet uns!” – that’s from The White Ribbon, man – and it just hit me how every drop of water here tells a story, every crack on the pavement hums with desire and resilience.
