Several years ago Kei's husband disappeared, leaving behind a diary that included the word "Manazuru," the name of a town two hours to the south of Tokyo by train. Had he disappeared .

As I’m hustlin’, I spot this little shop on Nakamachi Street. They sell the best yakitori. I can’t resist. I grab a skewer, and it’s like heaven in my mouth. I’m standin’ there, savoring every bite, when I hear this commotion. Turns out, there’s a street performer doing some wild tricks. I’m like, “What’s this, a circus?”
