Maizuru is a port city in northern Kyoto along the coast of the Sea of Japan. It can be reached in just 2 hours from the central Kyoto City, where most visitors to Kyoto converge.

So, I’m just sittin’ there, watchin’ the kids play, when I spot this dude, like, totally flailing in the water. I’m like, “Oh snap, here we go!” I jump up, whistle in hand, and sprint down the beach. I’m dodging beach balls and sunbathers like I’m in some kind of obstacle course.
