Mie Lethek Garuda, in Bendo village, Srandakan, is one of a few remaining noodle factories in an area that is famous for them, about 25 kilometres from the central Java city of Yogyakarta. .

After that fiasco, I decide to take a breather. I stroll down to the beach at Pantai Srandakan. The waves are crashin’, and I’m feelin’ a bit better. I see some kids flyin’ kites, and it’s just pure joy. I mean, how can you be mad when you see that? But then, I step in some sand, and it’s like quicksand! My flip-flop gets stuck, and I’m hop-skip-jumpin’ to get it out. Classic me, right?
